Mission Statement

SMISS is an international community of spine surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, and neurosurgeons who have chosen to specialize in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS). The SMISS Community is open to other medical professionals, academics, and researchers who wish to become general members of the organization because they share an interest in MISS.

This mission embraces the following charitable objectives:

• To encourage innovation and progress in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery.
• To encourage scientific research in the field of minimally invasive spine surgery
• To establish educational activities for the safe and efficacious application of minimally invasive spinal technologies.
• To provide unbiased, evidence-based information relevant to minimally invasive spine surgery for all healthcare providers and the public at large.
