SMISS is seeking host institutions with which to collaborate in order to create a rich and vibrant experience for the 2026 SMISS Traveling Fellows. Selected host institutions will have a significant impact on the success of the SMISS Traveling Fellowship Program.
Host Site Requirements
- Applicant must be a SMISS member.
- Coordinate operating room observation, academic, and social programs for 3 visiting Fellows while at your institution.
- Provide meals while the Fellows are in town.
- Coordinate ground transportation logistics between the local airport, hotel, and the host facility (Note: air transportation and hotel accommodations are not a host site’s responsibility).
- Based in North America.
- Plan experiences that will create both professional and personal memories.
- The expectation is that the host institution will host at least one social outing. Outings that highlight your city are especially appealing i.e, dinner cruise/sail, hike, local brewery, sporting event, rooftop dining, tour of well-known landmark, concert, etc.
SMISS will provide each host site a $2,000 stipend to offset expenses.
